Today’s post is dedicated to the watermelon of my eye (since I am not too fond of apples!)… Merci Joshi aka MJ! My li’l baby just turned 4 months old a couple of days back and like every mother, I think he’s the cutest baby in this world!
It wasn’t as if I’d never seen a pup on the road. But with MJ, there was some kind of a mystical bond the moment I saw him. The same bond compelled me to bring him home and face all the high-voltage drama that followed! My sobs and tears did all the work coz my father couldn’t bear to see his girl crying! And so I was allowed to keep MJ in the house provided I tend to all his needs…food, walks, hygiene, illness…EVERYTHING!
Life has been no less than a circus after that! I am still learning to juggle, to multitask. I am still learning how to make him finish his food without me running behind him for it, how to prevent him from chewing shoes or furniture, how to stop him from crying when I leave and reassuring him that I will be back home by evening. My day begins at 6 am and ends when my li’l bundle of energy chooses to go to sleep, not to forget the innumerable challenges faced throughout the day. Suddenly, things like, “Oh look! He’s lost a tooth!” or, “Aww! He’s growing up so quick!” or, “He’s learnt to climb the sofa” or “Oh shit! He’s caught a cold.” have become topics of enormous interest. A friend even said this to me yesterday – “The Pet Shop and the Vet’s Clinic are your favourite hangout places, naii?”
But I’m not complaining. It’s nice being responsible for somebody. Being patient, unselfish. He can cheer me up after a long, tiring day (yes, somebody running up to you in excitement after you’ve returned home is the world’s most awesome feeling). His brown, shiny eyes light up my day!
I was one of those people who thought motherhood is overrated. Now that I am there, all I can say is that its not all that difficult, but not a cakewalk either!
Gosh i m sooo sleepy! |
You talking to me, eh? |
