Song of The Week

Today's song would have probably been a different composition, had this beautiful lullaby not played in my ears on my way back home. The song is 'Do Naina Aur Ek Kahaani' from one of my favourite movies, 'Masoom'.
The 1983 film boasts of other brilliant tracks by, such as 'Tujhse Naraaz' (another favourite), but it just had to be this one tonight!
This song manages to break my heart every time I see it. Jugal Hansraj's innocent eyes, the flashback...his longing for love, for acceptance tugs strings at your heart.

I particularly love the way the guitar has been used in this song. Quite a different instrument for a lullaby. Only Pancham can manage to do something like this! Add to that Gulzar's soulful words and the end result is anything but pure magic!

Enjoy Listening!

*Thodisi hai jaani hui
Thodi si nayii
Jahaan ruke aasoon wohi...
poori ho gayi...*
